JEPCO has received an award from M&I Materials, manufacturer of MIDEL ester transformer liquids, in recognition of the utility’s 20-year usage of MIDEL as part of its efforts to safeguard lives, property and the environment.
JEPCO, based in the capital city of Amman in Jordan, operates a large distribution network that covers approximately 66% of the population of Jordan. In 1997 the utility began to specify fire-safe MIDEL 7131 (instead of potentially flammable and non-biodegradable mineral oil) for all its indoor transformers. To date JEPCO has installed thousands of MIDEL filled transformers, mostly in the basements of residential and commercial buildings.
Steve Jones, MIDEL’s Sales Director for the EMEA region, presented the award and commented “We are delighted to congratulate JEPCO on such a long and successful service history with MIDEL. From the outset, JEPCO took a preventive approach to risk, when first deploying MIDEL-filled transformers in 1997. They have since been a visionary operator across the region. We look forward to many more years of our innovative and forward-looking relationship.”
JEPCO specified MIDEL 20 years ago for the purpose of increasing fire safety and to introduce sustainable transformers in its distribution network. In doing so JEPCO proved itself an innovative leader in the region by deploying ester liquid technology which increases safety for people, the environment and electricity infrastructure.
